Carnival Early Saver Fare vs Guaranteed Rate

Hello fellow travelers,

IrSabio Travel Consultants have been asked on numerous occasions if there is any real value in specially promoted rates such as Carnival Cruise Lines "Early Saver Fares". We would assume they would not be called "Early Saver Fares" for nothing, but there are still those who question the validity of such fares.

We, at IrSabio Travel Consultants, can not blame our clientele for being skeptical, after all, these are some tough financial times, and desires are beginning to give way to a little thing known as value. We honestly appreciate our clients concerns, and decided to perform a little side by side compare.

For this project, we are going to consider the beautiful Carnival Splendor home ported in Los Angeles, Ca. We have six (6) people who are considering a seven (7) day New Years cruise. Two of our guest requested an Interior Stateroom, two requested an Ocean View Stateroom, and the final couple requested a Balcony. All couples elected to pre-pay their gratuities. Now, let us take a look at their prices.

                                   Guaranteed Rates            Early Saver

Interior Stateroom:             $469 pp-do                  $409 pp-do
Taxes/Port Fees                 $70.03 pp-do               $70.03 pp-do
Gratuities ($10 PP Pd)       $70.00 pp-do               $70.00 pp-do
Total for both travelers:     $1218.06                      $1098.06
Savings:                                                  $120.00

Ocean View Stateroom:     $569 pp-do                    $529 pp-do
Taxes/Port Fees               $70.03 pp-do                 $70.03 pp-do
Gratuities ($10 PP Pd)       $70.00 pp-do                $70.00 pp-do
Total for both travelers:      $1418.06                       $1338.06
Savings:                                                    $80.00

Balcony Stateroom:           $679 pp-do                    $649 pp-do
Taxes/Port Fees               $70.03  pp-do                $70.03 pp-do
Gratuities ($10 PP Pd)      $70.00 pp-do                $70.00 pp-do
Total for both travelers:     $1638.06                        $1578.06
Savings:                                                    $60.00

Overall Average Savings:                          $87 Per Couple

Now we realize that $87 per couple may not seem like a lot of money, but when you consider that the Early Saver Fare were quoted based on Interior Stateroom 4B, Ocean View Stateroom 6B, and Balcony Stateroom 8B, where the Guaranteed Rate is pretty much luck of the draw, it really makes a big difference. The 4B, 6B, and 8B Staterooms are located on either the Riveria or Main decks, which is very close to just about everything on the ship. You do not have to worry about climbing flights of stairs or waiting on elevators to get to where the action is, and believe me, you want to be close to the action onboard Carnival Cruise Lines.

Basically fellow travelers, promotional rates such as the Carnival Early Saver fare are more than just worth the price of admission. Here we have three couples who saved an average total of $87 per couple. $87 dollars will buy 2 fountain drink cards and still leave a few dollars worth of pocket change. Those fountain drinks are not free, so that drink card which allows the customer unlimited fountain and soft drinks for the duration of the cruise is an excellent value. What are we saying? Well, in layman's terms, with the Early Saver Fare you will end up saving on more than just the cost of the stateroom.
